Fenway is pissed now

Thanksgiving was a delightful little holiday--food, family, napping, Wii (Wiiing?) and hiking. The holiday was successful because Parker was able to "sell" his parents on a Costco membership (his love for Costco is another post entirely). Over the holiday, attempts were made (despite my misgivings) to introduce Blue, Eric and Jodi's blacklab, to Fenway and Ortiz. Both cats were initially really scared, but Blue just wanted to play with them. Eventually Ortiz mellowed a bit and made a feeble attempt to become friends. Fenway wasn't having any of this--his alpha male status was threatened by the presence of a larger animal. He spent the weekend as a hissing puffy ball of pissed off cat. After Blue left, it took him nearly a week to mend his ego and we still have a ways to go. An unfortunate side-effect of this encounter is that Fenway seems to be attacking Ortiz more as if to truly prove he is the alpha. We should send this cat to counseling or at least bootcamp (like on the daytime talkshows).

GavLan are coming to Durham this weekend and we are taking them to Asheville (we've never been as well)--I will post pictures of the fun!
